With more than three decades of experience in personal injury law and insurance claims, Hank Van Wieringen brings a rare and invaluable skill set to the team at Weisser Law. Van Wieringen’s deep knowledge of how cases are built — from multiple perspectives and from both sides of the courtroom — makes him one of the top personal injury investigators in Florida.
A proud native of Ohio, Van Wieringen graduated with a dual major from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French. Post-college, Van Wieringen entered the workforce as a bodily injury liability claims adjuster. While in that role, he worked for major insurance carriers, including Aetna Casualty & Surety Company and Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Company, handling catastrophic injury claims.
“I learned a lot about claims and litigation,” Van Wieringen said. “By the time I left that industry, I had close to eight years of claims and litigation handling experience.”
That experience, combined with a desire to help those who’ve been injured, led Hank to a career shift in 1993. The transition to investigator would define his career, as Van Wieringen has spent the last 33 years as an investigator handling tens of thousands of personal injury claims for some of the top law firms in Florida.
While his title is investigator, Hank is involved in nearly every aspect of a case from start to finish. Serving as the point of contact for clients, he is involved in building a case. From obtaining witness statements, investigating accidents, securing and reviewing medical records, communicating with insurance companies, and finding experts, Hank’s job is to know a client’s case inside and out and help bring it to a successful conclusion.
“Our clients love the fact that they have a lawyer and an investigator on their case that they can reach out and speak to anytime during the pendency of their claim,” Van Wieringen said.
Hank’s amazing abilities were properly celebrated when he was awarded the Investigator/Paralegal of the Year in 2024 by the prestigious Palm Beach County Justice Association.
The level of trust from clients and the firm’s partners underscores Hank’s commitment to our clients. A major part of that trust comes from his ability to break down cases on multiple levels and deliver real results for our clients.
“I know exactly how the insurance company thinks… what they want and how to support a claim,” Van Wieringen said while adding, “I am the boots on the ground, and I’m there to help our clients with every aspect of their case.”
Hank’s 33 years of experience make him unique in the industry. He knows how insurance companies think and is an expert in both pre-litigation handling of cases as well as the nuances of litigation handling both plaintiff and defense cases during his career,” added partner Jason Weisser.
