As a third-generation lawyer, Jason Weisser has successfully argued cases throughout Florida for nearly 30 years. A dedicated attorney committed to justice for his clients, Weisser’s reputation and track record earned him the prestigious Jon. E. Krupnick Award for Perseverance from the Florida Justice Association in 2024 for his work on a case that lasted over 10 years.
It’s quite the honor for someone who didn’t start out wanting to be an attorney.
After graduating from the University of Syracuse in 1992 with dual majors in transportation and distribution management and marketing, a suggestion from his father — who was also an attorney — guided Weisser toward his true calling.
“No matter what you do in life, having a law degree will always help,” his father advised.
Weisser took the advice to heart and followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and father by attending the New York School of Law. Weisser graduated in 1996 with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence and was awarded an Order of the Barrister Award Recipient.
After starting his law career as a prosecutor in the state attorney’s office in Miami, Weisser developed a reputation for winning cases and prosecuting criminals at a highly successful rate. During his time in the state attorney’s office, Weisser took 40 felony cases to trial, winning 37 of them, showcasing a 93% success rate.
However, after four years with the state, Weisser made the move to civil practice, where he began doing mostly medical malpractice defense. Two years later, Weisser joined the prestigious plaintiff personal injury firm Schuler And Halvorson. Over the next 24 years — 20 of which were spent as a partner in the firm — Weisser built his reputation as one of the most distinguished trial attorneys in the country.
That included when Weisser co-counseled in a lawsuit filed by the widow of the first person killed in the anthrax attacks of 9/11. The lawsuit was filed against the Department of Defense, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Postal Service, and it went up to the Florida Supreme Court, where they prevailed, and the case eventually settled for a multi-million dollar figure.
Over the last 25 years, Weisser has secured hundreds of millions in settlements and jury verdicts for his clients by fighting insurance companies. Weisser has built a reputation with these insurance companies for being an accomplished litigator and outstanding trial lawyer.
“Insurance companies try to wear people down and avoid paying what’s fair. I won’t let that happen. There’s no client too small, and no case too big,” Weisser said. “I fight to make sure my clients are treated with respect and that they recover what they truly deserve.”
During his career, Weisser has been recognized as a National Top 100 Trial Lawyer and has been selected as a Preeminent Lawyer by the Bar Register every year since 2008.
